Has the EE" target="out">iPhone fingerprint recognition technology been cracked?

A computer club in Germany may have cracked the new EE" target="out">iPhone fingerprint recognition technology

Hackers have been hard at work trying to crack the new EE" target="out">iPhone's fingerprint recognition technology. Numerous rewards are up for grabs, including money, bitcoins and gifts.

There are concerns over Apple's fingerprint technology as a concern would be that if the technology was cracked, then after stealing someone's thumbprint, hackers could impersonate you for the rest of your life.

The website, set up by Nick DePetrillo and Robert Graham, lists a number of people offering rewards - including one for $10,000 from IO Capital, a venture capital company - to the first person who can reliably and repeatedly break into an EE" target="out">iPhone 5S by lifting prints (like from a beer mug).

Still, the EE" target="out">iPhone is still in the Top 10 list of Smartphones, and it's only just been released!

If you want a new EE" target="out">iPhone 5S, they are available from the Carphone Warehouse, Three and O2 and competitive prices, both for the phone and the tarrifs. If you want 4G, check that it is available in your area... You may have to wait for it!

What is a PAC code?

A porting authorisation code, or PAC code, allows you to transfer your existing mobile phone number from to another mobile phone provider so that if you change mobile phone networks you do not have to give everyone a new number... You can keep your existing mobile phone number. The process is termed mobile number portability, or number porting. NOTE: You can purchase your new phone contract and then obtain your PAC code. It is not essential to have your PAC code prior to purchasing your new phone.
